In 2002, I ran for mayor because God spoke to me in such a way that I knew it was Him.
Literally. There was a pressing… an urgency from the Holy Spirit that told me this was
something I had to do. Even though I had no interest in politics and I wasn’t even thinking
about doing something like this, I felt very strong that someone needed to be the voice for
Princeville.

I was appointed as a Commissioner in 2000 and when the position for mayor came up in 2002, I ran and I won. Prior to being appointed as Commissioner, I was aware that the financial books had been taken from Princeville in 1997 and everything was in an uproar. I knew someone had to step in and do something to get the city back on track.
